Cross-Border Arts Education : Japan and Korea Youth Cultural Exchange Drama/Theatre Education Program

30 minutes

Korea and Japan are geographically close, but the stereotype of ‘close but far’ has long been established for historical reasons. Through the ITAC5 (International Teaching Artist Conference) which was held in 2020, continuing meetings between Korean and Japanese teaching artists are aimed at breaking down fixed stereotypes and creating a harmonious cultural exchange between Korea and Japan.
Korean and Japanese teaching artists express both countries’ students’ stories theatrically and promote a sense of ‘ONENESS’ through drama/theatre education. As a result, ‘Cross-Border Arts Education: Japan and Korea Youth Cultural Exchange Drama/Theatre Education Program’ aims to resolve the stereotype of ‘close but far’ between Korea and Japan and realize the values of ‘different but similar.’
